Flywheel test



Disconnect the alternator wiring connector.

Start the engine and rev it up to 5,000 rpm.

Measure AC voltage across the three yellow wires using a hand-held multimeter. A reading below 53 V indicates a faulty alternator.

Standard loadless voltage: over 53 VAC at 6000 rpm.
