1. Code re-registration key (red head); 2. Standard keys (black heads)
This vehicle is equipped with an immobilizer system that helps prevent theft by re-registering the codes in the standard keys. This system consists of the following components.
- code re-registration key (red head)
- two standard keys (with black head), which can be re-registered with new codes
- signal source (built into the re-registration key)
- immobilizer unit
- electronic control unit
- immobilizer system indicator (see page 3-4)
The red head key is used to re-register codes in each standard key. Since re-registration is a complex process, please contact your Yamaha dealer for re-registration, providing the motorcycle with all three keys. Do not use a red head wrench to operate your motorcycle. It should only be used to re-register standard keys. Always use a standard key to operate your motorcycle.
Warning! Don't lose your re-registration key! If it is lost, contact your dealer immediately!
If the code re-registration key is lost, registration of new codes in standard keys is impossible. Standard keys can continue to be used to start the motorcycle engine, however, if re-registration is required (for example, if a new standard key is made or all keys are lost), then the entire immobilizer system must be replaced as a kit. Therefore, it is strongly recommended to use one of the standard keys and keep the re-registration key in a safe place.
- Do not let keys fall into water.
- Do not expose keys to high temperatures.
- Do not place keys near magnets (including, but not limited to, products such as loudspeakers, etc.).
- Do not place objects that produce electrical signals near your keys
- Do not place heavy objects on the keys.
- Do not sharpen keys or change their shape.
- Do not disassemble the plastic parts of the keys.
- Do not attach two keys from the same or different immobilizer systems to one key fob ring.
- Keep standard keys, as well as keys for other immobilizer systems, separately from their vehicle code re-registration key.
- Keep keys for other immobilizer systems away from the ignition switch as they may cause signal interference.
