It is necessary to remove the engine/transmission assembly from the frame and separate the crankcase halves to gain access to the following components:

• Cylinder heads (XL600V)
• Front cylinder head (XL650V and XRV750)
• Cylinder barrels, pistons and piston rings
• Connecting rod big-ends and bearings
• Crankshaft and bearings
• Transmission shafts
• Selector drum and forks
• Oil pump
