The Harley-Davidson Street series was developed in response to changing consumer preferences and the growing interest in lighter motorcycles. In the early 2010s, the company began exploring new market segments to attract a younger audience and expand its customer base. As a result of this research, a new platform was introduced that formed the basis of the Street.
The Street series includes two models — Street 500 and Street 750. These motorcycles were designed with an emphasis on urban riding style and comfort.

The Street series motorcycles have a modern and aggressive design that sets them apart from traditional Harley-Davidson models. They are characterized by a low profile, narrow lines, and compact dimensions. Designers paid special attention to details, including stylish elements such as customized seats and unique graphic designs.
Let’s start with the engine, a liquid-cooled 60-degree V-twin engine whose overhead camshaft chain drives four valves per cylinder via roller rockers with screw adjusters. Named Revolution X, this all-new powerplant with a vertically split crankcase and sliding bearings represents a modern design that traces its lineage back to the 2003 V-Rod. Jeff Kauffman, Harley’s chief powertrain engineer, says the 60-degree design was chosen to help reduce the height of the wet-sump engine, which helps keep the seat height and center of gravity low—important considerations given that the Street is seen as a first motorcycle for many potential customers.

Street 750: 749 cc, V-twin engine, approximately 54 hp.

The individual aluminum cylinders feature pressed-in cast iron liners, and the only difference between the 500 and 750 versions, which have the same piston stroke of 66.0 mm, is the cylinder diameter. The 500 model has a diameter of 69.0 mm, providing a displacement of 494 cc. The 750 model has a cylinder diameter of 85.0 mm, yielding a displacement of 749 cc. The maximum RPM for both engines is 8000, and the peak power for the 750, although not officially announced, is said by a Harley representative to be 54 hp at 7500 RPM, with peak torque of 60 Nm achieved at unspecified RPMs. A single balance shaft prevents excessive vibrations from the V-twin engine, and the six-speed transmission works in conjunction with Harley's familiar belt drive.

One of the key features of the Street models is their lightness and maneuverability. These motorcycles are easy to handle in urban conditions, making them ideal for beginner riders and those who frequently navigate dense city streets.
Harley-Davidson also focuses on incorporating modern technologies into its motorcycles. Street models can be equipped with various electronic systems such as ABS and traction control systems, enhancing safety and handling.

Like many other Harley-Davidson motorcycles, the Street models offer a wide range of customization options. Owners can modify the appearance and characteristics of their bikes using original parts and accessories from the manufacturer.
In the motorcycle market, Harley-Davidson Street faces competition from other brands offering lightweight and affordable motorcycles. Key competitors include companies like Yamaha, Kawasaki, and Honda, which also offer models aimed at a younger audience and beginner riders.
Harley-Davidson Street represents a successful attempt by the company to adapt to the changing demands of the market and attract a new audience. With modern design, good technical specifications, and customization options, motorcycles in this series continue to be popular among riders seeking comfortable and stylish bikes for urban rides. The Street series confirms that Harley-Davidson is capable of combining tradition and innovation while remaining true to its heritage.
