Fuel | • Check the fuel level in the fuel tank. • Add fuel if necessary. • Check for leaks in the fuel line. |
Engine oil | • Check the engine oil level. • If necessary, add recommended oil to the required level. • Inspect the motorcycle for any oil leaks. |
Main gear oil level | • Inspect the motorcycle for any oil leaks. |
Front brake | • Check operation. • If the brake action is soft or sticky, have your Yamaha dealer bleed the hydraulic system. • Check the free play of the lever. • Adjust if necessary. • Check the brake fluid level in the reservoir. • If necessary, add recommended brake fluid to the required level. • Check for leaks in the hydraulic system. |
Rear brake | • Check operation. • Check the pedal for free play. • Adjust if necessary. |
Clutch | • Check operation. • Lubricate the cable if necessary. • Check the free play of the lever. • Adjust if necessary. |
Drive handle of throttle valve | • Make sure it rotates smoothly. • Check free play. • If necessary, have adjustments and lubrication performed by a Yamaha dealer. |
Control cables | • Make sure they move smoothly. • Lubricate if necessary. |
Wheels and tires | • Check for damage. • Check tire condition and tread depth. • Check the air pressure. • Adjust to normal if necessary. |
Brake and gear shift pedals | • Make sure they move smoothly. • Lubricate the pedal pivots if necessary. |
Brake and clutch levers | • Make sure they move smoothly. • Lubricate the pivot points of the levers if necessary. |
Side stand | • Make sure it moves smoothly. • Lubricate if necessary. |
Chassis fastening elements | • Make sure all nuts, bolts and screws are securely tightened. • Tighten if necessary. - |
Instruments, lights, signals and switches | • Check operation. • Troubleshoot if necessary. |
Side stand switch | • Check the operation of the ignition interlock system. • If there is a problem with the system, have your motorcycle checked by a Yamaha dealer. |
Note. Carry out pre-start checks every time before using the motorcycle. These checks require very little time to complete, and the increased security they provide is well worth the time investment.
Warning! If any of the items listed in the inspection list are not operating properly, have them inspected and repaired before continuing to operate the motorcycle.
