Running in the engine (Yamaha XVS 1100 Drag Star)

There is no more important period in the life of your engine than the period between 0 and 1600 km. Therefore, please read the instructions below carefully. Since the engine is completely new, do not apply excessive loads during the first 1600 kilometers. The various engine parts rub against each other and polish each other, providing the necessary operating clearances between them. During this period, do not allow the engine to operate at maximum speed for a long time and avoid conditions that may cause the engine to overheat.

0-1000 km

Avoid running the engine for long periods of time with the throttle valve open more than 1/3.

1000-1600 km

Avoid running the engine for long periods of time with the throttle valve open more than 1/2.

Caution! After 1000 km, it is necessary to change the oil in the engine and main gear and replace the oil filter element.

1600 km and beyond

You can now operate the motorcycle as usual.

Caution! If any problems occur during the engine break-in period, have your motorcycle inspected immediately by a Yamaha dealer.
