General
The electronic control module (ECM) is mounted under the left side cover. Refer to the VRSCA Electrical Diagnostic Manual for information on the function and testing of the electronic control module.
Note. The electronic control module cannot be repaired. Replace the unit if it fails.
Removal
1. Remove left side cover
2. Remove right side cover.
Warning! To protect against shock and accidental start-up of vehicle, remove the maxi-fuse before proceeding. Inadequate safety precautions could result in death or serious injury.
3. Remove maxi-fuse. See 8.5 Maxi-fuse.
4. See Figure 9-2. Depress latch (2) on ECM connector (1) [78B] and disconnect from ECM.

5. See Figure 9-3. Remove left and right ECM mounting bolts (2, 3).

6. Remove ECM (1) from left side of vehicle.
Installation
Note. In next step, connector side of ECM should face left side of vehicle and connector tab (4) should face front of vehicle.
1. See Figure 9-3. Put left side ECM mounting bolt (2) into left side ECM mounting hole. Install ECM (1) from left side of vehicle.
2. Loosely thread left side ECM mounting bolt into ECM mounting bracket. Do not tighten.
3. Install right side ECM mounting bolt into right side ECM mounting hole. Tighten left and right bolts to 6.0-10.0 Nm (53.0-89.0 in·lbs).
4. See Figure 9-2. Connect ECM connector (1) [78B] to ECM.
5. Install maxi-fuse.
6. Install left and right side cover.
