First 500 miles (800 kilometers)
The exhaust system, high-quality workmanship, and quality materials used in your new Harley-Davidson motorcycle will ensure that you receive optimal motorcycle performance from the very beginning.
In order for the friction pair of engine parts to get used to each other, it is recommended that during the first 500 miles (800 km) follow the rules below. Compliance with these rules will preserve the high performance of the motorcycle for a long time and extend its service life.
1. Within the first 50 miles (80 km) Make sure that the engine speed in any gear does not exceed 5000 RPM. Do not overload the engine - this is possible when driving (or acceleration) motorcycle at a very low RPM, or when riding at a high RPM for longer than necessary for maneuvering or overtaking.
2. During the first 500 miles (800 kilometers) change the engine speed, avoid driving the motorcycle for a long time at a constant speed. Engine speeds up to 7000 RPM are permissible in any gear.
3. Drive the motorcycle slowly, avoid accelerating quickly at the start, and do not open the throttle too much until the engine warms up.
4. Do not overload the engine, do not engage large gears at low speed.
5. Do not brake sharply. New brakes within the first 200 miles (300 kilometers) should get used to it, so brake smoothly.
