If the driver tries to start the engine or presses the starter button before the transmission is engaged and the stand is in the down position, the stand lock system will prevent the engine from starting. A message will appear in the odometer ticker "SidE StAnd" (Set the stand to the side), notifying the driver of this position. When the stand is raised (or the transmission is switched to neutral), the engine can be started and the message will disappear from the screen.
If the stand falls out while fully retracted at a speed greater than 10 mph (15 km/h), then the stand lock system will monitor engine operation and warn the driver about this incident - the indicators will flash twice and a message will appear on the odometer "SidE StAnd" (Move the stand to the side). The message will remain on the screen until the stand is fully retracted again. In this mode, the rider can continue to control the motorcycle.
The driver can erase this message at any time - to do this, press the function switch button once while the engine is running.
Note. If the kickstand is raised and the transmission is quickly engaged, the kickstand jumping off the frame may trigger the kickstand locking system, which will shut down the engine.
