Warning! Before driving a motorcycle, read this section carefully Controls and indicators. If you are negligent in studying the structure of a motorcycle, you may receive serious injuries, even death.
Before driving a motorcycle (Anytime) check it out completely (by inspection), to ensure safe driving.
1. Check the amount of fuel in the tank and add fuel if necessary.
Warning! Be careful not to spill gasoline. Slowly unscrew the gas cap and remove it. Do not pour gasoline above the bottom of the gas filler neck insert; leave room for the fuel to expand. After filling the gas tank with gasoline, screw the gas cap tightly. Gasoline is extremely flammable and explodes, causing serious injury or death.
Warning! Be careful when refueling. The air remaining in the gas tank, under pressure, can forcefully throw gasoline through the gas tank filling pipe. Gasoline is extremely flammable and explodes, causing serious injury or death.
Warning! If you need to refuel or service your motorcycle, be sure to stop the engine first. Do not smoke in places where gasoline is located; in such places it is forbidden to create sparks (electrical or otherwise), make fires, etc. - any actions that may create an open fire are prohibited. Gasoline is extremely flammable and explodes, causing serious injury or death.
Warning! When refueling your motorcycle, do not spill fuel. Immediately wipe up any fuel that spills on your motorcycle. Fuel can damage surfaces and degrade the appearance of the motorcycle.
2. Adjust the mirrors to the position required for driving.
3. Check the oil level.
4. Check the refrigerant level.
5. Check the controls to ensure they are working properly. Check the operation of the front and rear brakes, clutch, and gear shifting.
6. Check the steering - turn the steering wheel to the right and left to its full operating angle.
Warning! Make sure that the tire pressure is correct, that they are balanced and that their surface is in good condition. Check tire pressure regularly and see your Harley-Davidson dealer if replacement is necessary. When driving a motorcycle with heavily worn, unbalanced tires (or if the pressure in them is not enough), its stability may decrease and controllability may deteriorate; This could result in serious injury or death.
7. See table 14.
Check the condition of the tires and their pressure. If your tire pressure is outside the specified range, your motorcycle's ride performance will be degraded and its stability and handling may be affected. The range of permissible tire pressure values is given in the tire specification.
Warning! Before driving, check that the headlights, brake lights, and turn signals are working correctly. If a motorcyclist is not clearly visible to other drivers, this can result in serious injury or death.
8. Check all electrical equipment and switches, including switches: headlights, brake lights, turn signals, horn.
9. Check for fuel, oil or hydraulic fluid leakage.
10. Check the rear drive belt adjustment.
11. Perform motorcycle maintenance as necessary.
