Checking the final drive oil level (Yamaha XVS 1100 Drag Star)

1. Stand the motorcycle on a level surface.

Note:

• Place the motorcycle on a suitable stand.
• Make sure that the motorcycle is upright.

2. Remove: final drive housing oil filler bolt (1)

3. Check: final drive oil level

The final drive oil level should be to the bottom brim (2) of the filler hole.

Below the bottom brim → Add the recommended final drive oil to the proper level.



Recommended final drive oil: SAE 80 hypoid gear oil graded "GL-4", "GL-5" or "GL-6" or multi-purpose SAE 80W90 hypoid gear oil.

4. Install: final drive housing oil filler bolt: 23 Nm (2.3 m·kg)
