Engine

Two-cylinder four-stroke engine with cylinder camber 90° (L twin).

Cylinder diameter: 88 mm.

Piston stroke: 57.2 mm.

Total working volume: 696 cm³.

Compression ratio of the fuel mixture: 10.7±0.5:1.

Maximum crankshaft power: 54.5 kW at 9000 rpm.

Maximum torque at the crankshaft: 62 Nm at 7750 rpm.

Gas distribution system

Desmodromic with two valves per cylinder controlled by four rocker arms (one opening and one closing for each valve) and one camshaft per cylinder. The camshafts are driven from the engine crankshaft via a toothed belt drive (gears, tension rollers and timing belt).

The main idea of the desmodromic valve timing system is that the valves are closed by force, and not by a return spring, as usual. The advantages of the desmodromic system include the following:
  • A) due to the absence of valve return springs, energy is not wasted on their compression;
  • b) more precise valve operation (closing speed is always synchronized with engine speed).

Figure 108 illustrates the operation of the desmodromic gas distribution system.

1) Opening (or top) rocker. 2) Opening (or top) tip. 3) Crackers (two half rings securing the lower tip to the valve stem). 4) Closing (or lower) tip. 5) Closing (or lower) rocker. 6) Return spring for closing rocker arm. 7) Camshaft. 8) Valve.

Spark plug

Model: NKG.

Type: DCPR8E.

Fuel system

Injection, SIEMENS indirect electronic injection

Throttle diameter: 45 mm.

Injectors per cylinder: 1.

Spray holes per injector: 8.

Gasoline octane number: 95-98.

Brakes

Front

Type: double disc, with ventilation holes.

Disc diameter: 320 mm.

It is controlled by a hydraulic transmission using a lever on the right handlebar.

Braking area: 44 cm² per disc.

Radial mounted differential calipers:
  • Brand and type: BREMBO P4.32 K, 4-piston.
  • Friction material: FERIT I/D 450 EE
  • Master cylinder type: PS 15.

Rear

Type: disk, with ventilation holes.

Disc diameter: 245 mm.

It is controlled by a hydraulic transmission using a pedal on the right side of the motorcycle.

Braking area: 25 cm².

Piston diameter: 34 mm.

Brand and type: P 34 S.

Friction material: FERIT I/D 450 FF.

Type main cylinder: PS 11.

Attention! The fluid in the brake system is aggressive. In case of contact with eyes or skin, rinse with plenty of running water.

Transmission

Clutch: wet, multi-disc; controlled by a lever on the left handlebar.

The transmission of torque from the engine to the gearbox occurs through a gear drive.

Transmission ratio from front gear to clutch gear: 33/61.

Transmission: six-speed; with fixed reduction numbers. Switched by the pedal on the left.

Final transfer ratio: 15/45.

Gearbox reduction numbers:
  • 1st - 13/32;
  • 2nd - 18/30;
  • 3rd - 21/28;
  • 4th - 23/26;
  • 5th - 22/22;
  • 6th - 26/24.

Chain transmission from the gearbox to the rear wheel:
  • Brand: DID.
  • Model: 520 V6.
  • Dimensions: 5/8"x1/4" (15.87x6.35 mm)
  • Number of links: 107 + 1 detachable.

Important:
  • The specified gear ratios (reduction) Transmission numbers are tested and approved and cannot be changed under any circumstances.
  • However, if you would like to specifically prepare the bike for track competition, Ducati Motor Holding SpA will be happy to provide information on which gear ratios are available. Please contact your Ducati dealer or authorized service center.

Attention!
  • To replace the rear sprocket, contact your Ducati dealer or authorized service center.
  • Incorrect installation of the rear sprocket components greatly increases the danger and can lead to unexpected damage to the motorcycle while riding.
