1. Error code indicator
This model is equipped with a self-diagnosis device for various electrical circuits.
If a problem is detected in any of these circuits, the engine warning light will illuminate and the display will show an error code.
The self-diagnosis device also detects problems in the immobilizer system circuits.
If any of the immobilizer system circuits are faulty, the immobilizer system indicator will flash and the odometer/trip meter display will show an error code.
Note. If the display shows code 52, this may be caused by interference between the signal transmitters. If you see this error code, try the following:
1. Use the code re-registration key to start the engine.
Note. Make sure there are no other immobilizer keys near the ignition switch (Do not carry more than one immobilizer key on your key ring!) The immobilizer system keys can interfere with each other due to signal interference, which can prevent the engine from starting.
2. If the engine starts, turn it off and try starting it using standard keys.
3. If the engine does not start with one or both standard keys, have your Yamaha dealer perform the key re-registration procedure by providing the dealer with the motorcycle, code re-registration key and both standard keys.
If the display shows any other error codes, note them and have the motorcycle checked by a Yamaha dealer.
Warning! If the display shows any error code, the motorcycle should be checked as soon as possible to avoid engine damage.
