Prepare



1. Remove main fuse. See Power disconnect.

2. Disconnect 02 sensor connectors. See Oxygen (O2) sensor.

Remove



1. See Figure 6-22. Remove exhaust system.
  • a. Remove nuts (7).
  • b. Remove locknuts (4) and washers (3).
  • c. Remove exhaust system.

2. Discard gaskets (10).

Install



FASTENERTORQUE VALUE
Muffler nuts25.0-30.0 Nm19-22 ft·lbs
Exhaut to engine nuts8.0-10.0 Nm71-88 in·lbs

1. See Figure 6-22. Install new gaskets (10).

2. Install exhaust system.
  • a. Install exhaust system.
  • b. Install washers (3) and locknuts (4). Tighten to 25.0-30.0 Nm (19-22 ft·lbs).
  • c. Install nuts (7). Tighten to 8.0-10.0 Nm (71-88 in·lbs).

Disassemble



1. See Figure 6-22. Remove front, rear and intermediate shields.


  • a. Detach clamps (19).
  • b. Remove shields (13, 15, 16).

2. Remove front exhaust pipe.
  • a. Discard clamp (11).
  • b. Remove front exhaust pipe (12).

3. Remove muffler. See Removing and installing muffler.

4. Remove bracket.
  • a. Detach rear brake master cylinder from bracket. See Rear brake master cylinder.
  • b. Remove screws (6).
  • c. Remove bracket (2).

Assemble



FASTENERTORQUE VALUE
Muffler bracket screws22.5-27.5 Nm17-20 ft·lbs
Front exhaust pipe clamp10.0-12.0 Nm89-106 in·lbs
Exhaust shield clamps2.3-4.5 Nm21-39 in·lbs

1. See Figure 6-22. Install bracket.
  • a. Install bracket (2).
  • b. Install screws (6). Tighten to 22.5-27.5 Nm (17-20 ft·lbs).
  • c. Attach rear brake master cylinder to bracket. See Rear brake master cylinder.

2. Install muffler. See Removing and installing muffler.

3. Install front exhaust pipe.
  • a. Install front exhaust pipe (12).
  • b. Install new clamp (11). Tighten to 10.0-12.0 Nm (89-106 in·lbs).

4. Install front, rear and intermediate shields.
  • a. Install shields (13, 15, 16).
  • b. Attach clamps (19). Tighten to 2.3-4.5 Nm (21-39 in·lbs).

Complete



1. Connect 02 sensor connectors. See Oxygen (O2) sensor.

2. Install main fuse. See Power disconnect.
