1. Fuel tank cap lock cover; 2. Unlock

To open the fuel tank cap:
  • Open the fuel tank cap lock cover, insert the key into the lock and turn it 1/4 turn clockwise. The lock will be unlocked and the fuel filler cap can now be opened.

To close the fuel tank cap:
  • 1. Reinstall the fuel tank cap with the key inserted into the lock.
  • 2. Turn the key counterclockwise to its original position, remove it and close the fuel tank cap lock cover.

Note. The fuel tank cap cannot be closed if the key is not in the lock. On the other hand, the key cannot be removed unless the plug is properly closed and locked.

Warning! After refueling, ensure that the fuel tank cap is properly closed. Leaking fuel increases the risk of fire.

Fuel

Make sure there is enough fuel in the tank.

Warning! Gasoline and gasoline vapors are extremely explosive. To avoid fire or explosion and reduce the risk of injury when refueling, follow these instructions:

1. Before refueling, turn off the engine. Make sure no one is sitting on the motorcycle. Do not smoke while refueling, and keep sparks, open flames, and other ignition sources, such as water heater and clothes dryer pilot lights, away from the area.

2. Do not overfill the tank. Insert the fuel nozzle into the neck of the fuel tank. Stop refueling when the fuel reaches the bottom of the filler neck. Because fuel expands when heated, heat from the engine or the sun can cause fuel to leak from the tank.

1. Fuel tank filler neck; 2. Fuel level in the tank; 3. Clean up spilled fuel immediately; 4. Close the fuel tank cap thoroughly.

Warning! Wipe up spilled fuel immediately with a clean, dry, soft cloth as fuel may damage painted surfaces and plastic parts.

Warning! Gasoline is highly toxic and can cause injury or death. Be careful. Never swallow gasoline. If you swallow any gasoline or inhale its fumes, or get gasoline in your eyes, seek immediate medical attention. If gasoline gets on your skin, wash it off with soap and water. If gasoline gets on your clothes, change your clothes.

Recommended fuel: Regular unleaded gasoline only

Fuel tank capacity: 18.0 L

Reserve fuel volume: 3.4 l

Warning! Use only unleaded gasoline. Leaded gasoline will seriously damage internal engine parts: valves, piston rings, etc., as well as the exhaust system.

Your YAMAHA motorcycle engine is designed to use regular unleaded gasoline with a research octane rating of 91 or higher.

If detonations occur, use fuel from another manufacturer or a higher quality fuel. Using unleaded fuel will extend spark plug life and reduce maintenance costs.
