Press in the outer races of the upper and lower bearings using the special tool.

Press in the lower steering column bearing using the special tool.
09925-18011: Special tools
Apply SUZUKI SUPER GREASE "A" grease to the upper and lower steering column bearings.
For USA: 99000-25030: SUZUKI SUPER GREASE "A"
For other countries: 99000-25010: SUZUKI SUPER GREASE "A"
Steering column nut
Tighten the steering column nut to 45 Nm (4.5 kgf-m) using special tools.

Rock the crossbars relative to the steering column 5-6 times so that the bearings are seated in place.
Loosen the steering column nut ¼-½ turn.
Note. Nut adjustment varies depending on the specific motorcycle.
Tighten the steering column nut to the appropriate torque.
Steering column nut: 90 Nm (9.0 kgf-m)
Note. Before tightening the nut, temporarily install the fork stays in the yokes.
Steering wheel
When installing the steering wheel, make sure that the mark (1), stamped on the steering wheel clamp, looked forward in the direction of travel.
Install the steering wheel so that the mark stamped on the steering wheel (2) coincided with the interface between the steering wheel clamp.
Tighten the bolts first (3) – front along the motorcycle, then bolts (4).
Steering wheel bolt: 26 Nm (2.6 kgf-m)
Install the front brake master cylinder (section 5-46).
Apply SUZUKI SUPER GREASE "A" grease to the ends of the throttle cables.
For USA: 99000-25030: SUZUKI SUPER GREASE "A"
For other countries: 99000-25010: SUZUKI SUPER GREASE "A"
Position the clutch handle so that the mark (5) on the steering wheel coincided with the mating point of the clutch handle mounting clamp.

Note. Rock the fork by the stay housing to make sure the steering column is not loose.
Attention! After making adjustments and installing the steering wheel, sharply jerk the front wheel back and forth to make sure that there are no backlashes and all work was carried out correctly. After this, check the smoothness of the steering wheel turning to the right and left; if there is unevenness in operation, adjust the steering column nut again.
