However, exceeding the maximum permissible load or an unbalanced load can significantly impair the handling, braking performance and stability of the motorcycle. Non-Honda accessories, unauthorized modifications to the motorcycle, or improper maintenance will also reduce the safety of the motorcycle.
The following pages provide more detailed information on loading, accessories and permitted modifications to the motorcycle.
Loading
Your safety depends greatly on the weight of the cargo and how it is placed on your motorcycle. Whenever transporting a passenger or cargo, the following must be considered.
Attention!
- Overloading the motorcycle or improperly positioning the load can result in an accident resulting in serious injury or death.
- Load weight restrictions must be strictly observed and the recommendations in this manual must be strictly followed.
Maximum permissible load
The following load limits apply to your motorcycle:
Maximum load capacity: 197 kg. Includes driver, passenger, all cargo and optional equipment.
Maximum load weight: 18 kg
The weight of additional equipment reduces the maximum permissible load weight accordingly.

This motorcycle was originally designed to carry a driver and one passenger. If you are not carrying a passenger, you may want to secure a jacket or other small items on the passenger seat.
If you need to carry more cargo, consult your authorized Honda dealer for information Here, related to accessories.
Improper loading of the motorcycle will result in poor stability and controllability. Even if you have loaded the motorcycle correctly, you should drive at a lower speed and never exceed 130 km/h (80 mph), when moving with a load.
When driving with a passenger or cargo, the following rules must be observed:
- Make sure your tire pressure is correct.
- If your motorcycle's load changes from normal, you may need to adjust the rear suspension (see Here).
- To prevent loose items from causing a traffic accident, make sure that all cargo is securely secured before starting your trip.
- Place the load as close to the center of the motorcycle as possible.
- The load should be evenly distributed on the right and left sides of the motorcycle.
