In cold climates, the lubricating oil is more viscous and this increases the battery power required to start the engine. A cold climate also diminishes charging capacity and battery efficiency.
To determine charging time as a function of battery capacity, use a densimeter to measure the specific gravity of the electrolyte.
The battery must be recharged slowly with a charging current (CC) of one tenth of the nominal capacity (C).
Caution! Do not recharge the battery at voltages above 15.5V. Do not charge at high current or recharge amperage.
- %S) Discharge percentage
- Gi) Period of inactivity (days)
- %Eb) Battery efficiency
- Те) Electrolyte temperature
- Ps) Specific gravity at 20°C/68°F
- Tc) Charge time (hours)
Note. To check the charging current, use the "MATHESIS" tester.
