- Remove the circlip (1) on the rotor shaft;
- Unscrew and remove the two screws (A) with washer;
- Release the rotor (2) with the seal ring from the outside;
- Using a punch on the rotor side, drive out the end bearing (3) from the cover;
- Release the spacer (4) and remove the other bearing (5) in the same way;
- Operating on the inside of the cover, remove the counterface (6) of the seal ring;
- Remove the inner spacer (8).
Check the condition of the mechanical seal components: there must not be any deformation, cracks or excessive wear. If there is excessive damage, change both components.
Reassembly
Clean the casing seat, the components to be refitted and the rotor shaft thoroughly and lubricate them with engine oil. Then refit them as follows:
Using pad code number 88713.0869, fit the new seal ring (7) on the rotor shaft;
Working on the inside of the cover, fit the inner spacer (8) with the sharp edge facing outwards;
Using a pad on the outer ring, bring the bearing (5) to the end of the spacer (8), with the shielded side facing the casing;
Fit the spacer (4) and the other bearing (3), bringing them to the end;
Fit the two screws (A) with washer, tightening them at the specified torque;
Turn over the casing and use pad code number 88713.0870 to fit the counterface (6), positioned as in the diagram, as far as the end of the spacer (8);
insert the rotor shaft (2) with seal ring and secure it on the opposite side with the circlip (1).
Turn the rotor and check that it rotates freely, without jamming.
