Your motorcycle is equipped with an automatic ignition cut-off system that is associated with a side stand. If the side stand is down, the engine cannot be started until the transmission is in neutral. If the side stand is raised, the engine can be started either in neutral or in gear with the clutch lever depressed. If the engine is started with the side stand down, shifting into gear will cause the engine to stop.
To protect the catalytic converter installed in the motorcycle exhaust system, avoid excessive idling and the use of leaded gasoline. Your motorcycle's engine exhaust contains toxic carbon monoxide. Carbon monoxide can quickly reach high concentrations in a confined space such as a garage. Do not start the engine in a garage with the door closed. Even if the garage door is open, the engine should only run as long as necessary to remove the motorcycle from the garage.
When starting, do not use the electric starter for more than 5 seconds at a time. Before the next attempt, release the starter button for about 10 seconds.
Preparing for work
Before starting the engine, insert the key into the ignition switch and turn it to the ON position (ON) and make sure the following:
- The gearbox is in NEUTRAL (the neutral indicator is on).
- The engine switch is in the "" position " (Job)
- The red low oil pressure light is on.
- The PGM-FI engine management system indicator does not light up.
The engine management system indicator does not light up. The low oil pressure indicator should go out 2-3 seconds after the engine starts. If the warning light remains illuminated, stop the engine immediately and check the engine oil level.
Note. Operating the engine with insufficient engine oil pressure can lead to engine failure.
Startup procedure
The engine of this motorcycle is equipped with a fuel injection system with automatic idle speed control. Follow the procedure below.
Regardless of ambient temperature:
With the throttle fully closed, press the starter button.
The engine will not start when the throttle is wide open (due to the fuel supply being cut off by the electronic control unit).
Applying the throttle sharply or running the engine at high idle speed for more than 5 minutes at normal air temperature may cause discoloration of the exhaust pipe.
Filling the cylinders with fuel
If the engine cannot be started after several attempts, the engine's combustion chambers may be filled with excess fuel.
1. Leave the engine switch in the running position (RUN).
2. Open the throttle fully.
3. Press the starter button for 5 seconds.
4. Follow normal startup procedure.
5. If the engine idles rough, open the throttle slightly. If the engine does not start, wait 10 seconds, then perform steps 1-4 again.
Ignition off
Your motorcycle is designed to automatically stop the engine and fuel pump if the motorcycle overturns (The roll sensor turns off the ignition system). Before starting the engine, you must turn the ignition key to the OFF position (OFF) and then back to the ON position (ON).
