Recommended spark plugs:
- Standard: IFR5L11 (NGK) or VK16PRZ11 (DENSO)
- For long driving at high speed: IFR6L11 (NGK) or VK20PRZ11 (DENSO)
Note: Never use a spark plug with a heat rating other than the recommended one. This may lead to engine failure. This motorcycle uses spark plugs with an iridium-coated center electrode.
When servicing spark plugs, observe the following rules:
- Do not clean spark plugs. If the electrodes are covered with deposits or dirt, replace the spark plug.
- To avoid damaging the iridium coating of the central electrode, use only wire-type feeler gauges to measure gaps. Do not use flat probes.
- It is prohibited to adjust the gap between the electrodes. If the gap does not meet the requirements, replace the spark plug.
1. Remove the cover (1) battery by removing the screws (2).
2. Remove dirt from around the spark plugs.
Remove the spark plugs using the spark plug wrench included in the tool kit.
(1) Rubber cover; (2) Screws
3. Inspect the electrodes and insulator, make sure there is no contamination, erosion or carbon deposits.
If severe electrode erosion or contamination is noted, replace the spark plugs.
4. Make sure the 1.1mm feeler wire does not fit into the gap (3) candles.
If the dipstick fits into the gap, replace the spark plug.
5. Make sure the spark plug sealing washer is in good condition.
b. Install the spark plug gasket and, to avoid misalignment, manually screw the spark plug into place.
(3) Gap between spark plug electrodes
7. Tighten the spark plug:
When installing an old spark plug: 1/8 turn after hand-tightening until it stops.
When installing a new spark plug, it should be tightened in two stages to avoid self-unscrewing:
- A) First tighten the spark plug:
- NGK: 3/4 turn after turning by hand until it stops.
- DENSO: 1/2 turn after turning by hand until it stops.
- b) Next, loosen the spark plug.
- With) Then tighten the spark plug: 1/8 of a turn after turning it by hand until it stops.
Note. An incorrectly tightened spark plug can damage the engine. If not tightened sufficiently, the piston may be damaged. Over-tightening may damage the threads.
8. Reinstall the spark plug tips.
9. Reinstall the remaining parts in reverse order.
