Preloaded spring standard length: 165 mm/6.49 in.
Monoshock with fixed-position ring nut
Using the C-spanner, rotate the ring nut to the minimum preloading position.
Compress the damper spring using the spring compressor tool.
Monoshock with threaded ring nut
Loosen the lock ring nut and the spring adjuster ring nut using a C-spanner or a special service tool as shown in the figure.
Remove the spring cap (1) and the spring.
Check the monoshock for oil leaks and other faults. If necessary, change the monoshock.
Reassembly
Turn the lower fitting so that the extension adjuster (A) is aligned with the banjo connector (B) as shown in the figure.
Insert the spring in the monoshock casing with the end with the tighter spirals (-) facing the adjuster.
Monoshock with fixed-position ring nut
Fit the adjuster ring nut and turn it to the minimum preload position.
Compress the spring using the special tool and insert the spring cap (1).
Turn the ring nut to the position required.
Monoshock with threaded ring nut
Fit the spring cap (1).
Tighten the spring adjuster ring nut until the spring is at the length (L) measured before disassembly.
Note. A complete turn of the adjuster ring nut increases or decreases the spring length by 1.5 mm/0.059 in.
Tighten the lock ring nut against the adjuster ring nut with a torque of 78.5-98.1 Nm.
