Honda road bikes are equipped with chains with rubber link seals (o-ring). The working lubrication of the chain links is incorporated in them at the factory and is designed for the entire life of the chain. Rubber seals - o-ring (and their modifications: x-ring, xw-ring, zw-ring, etc.) serve to retain working lubricant inside the links and prevent water and dust from getting inside. Periodic lubrication of the chain performs two main functions - it lubricates the rubber seals, preventing the rubber from drying out and cracking and thereby retaining working lubrication in the links, and also reduces friction between the chain and sprockets. In addition, lubrication prevents chain corrosion.
To lubricate the chain, it is recommended to use special chain lubricants in aerosol cans. Lubrication must be applied from the inside of the chain.
Let the grease dry for 10-15 minutes. If you start moving earlier, the insufficiently thickened lubricant will fly off the chain under the influence of centrifugal forces.
