Checking the coolant level (Ducati ST2)

Check the coolant level at the intervals indicated in the maintenance schedule. Check the coolant level in the expansion tank on the LH side of the bike. The tank is visible when seated in the riding position.

The coolant level must be 10 mm/0.4 in. above the MIN mark and not above the MAX mark.

If necessary, top up using the coolant specified.

Remove the RH side cover of the instrument panel as described in "Removing the instrument panel side covers" in the "Frame" section.

Unscrew the filler cap (1) and top up.

Refit the cap. Refit the RH side cover.

Warning! Bums hazard. Do not top up the coolant through the radiator filler cap when the engine is hot.


For freezing conditions down to -20°C/-4°F, use the following anti-freeze/water concentrations:


  • ANTIFREEZE: 35-40%
  • WATER: 65-60%.

Caution!
  • Very hard water with a high content of mineral salts can damage the engine.
  • In freezing conditions below -20°C/-4°F, increase the amount of antifreeze to 55%.


Caution! Coolant solutions with less than 30% anti-freeze will not provide sufficient protection against corrosion.
