Warning: To prevent spray of fuel, purge system of high-pressure fuel before supply line is disconnected. Gasoline is extremely flammable and highly explosive, which could result in death or serious injury.
1. Lift rear of fuel tank. See Lift rear of fuel tank.
2. Purge fuel supply line. See Fuel line.
3. Disconnect fuel supply line at quick disconnect fitting. See Fuel line.

1. See Figure 6-9. Attach FUEL PRESSURE GAUGE (Part No. HD-41182) and FUEL PRESSURE GAUGE ADAPTER (2) (Part No. HD-44061) to quick disconnect fitting (3) and lower fuel line (5).
2. Place fuel valve in the closed position.
3. Insert clear tube of fuel pressure tester into a suitable container.
4. Start engine.
5. Open fuel valve (1).
6. Open clear tube bleeder valve to remove air from fuel pressure tester.
7. Close clear tube bleeder valve.
8. Operate engine at various speeds. Note pressure gauge reading. Compare readings to Table 6-5.
9. Shut off engine.
10. Open clear tube bleeder to remove pressure from fuel pressure tester.
11. Remove fuel pressure tester.
