Removing
1. Using a 30 mm socket wrench, unscrew the steering column nut.
2. Remove the steering column washer.
3. Remove the upper traverse.
4. Remove the headlight mounting bracket by sliding it upward from the lower crossmember.
5. Unbend the petals of the lock nut washer of the upper bearing.
6. Using the radius wrench included in the standard motorcycle tool kit, unscrew the lock nut of the upper bearing.
7. Filming puck.
Attention! After performing the following operation, it is necessary to support the steering column axle assembly with the yoke so that it does not fall out of the column.
8. Using the same radius wrench, unscrew the upper bearing nut.
9. Remove the upper bearing nut.
10. Remove the upper bearing race.
11. Remove the separator with balls.
12. Remove the lower yoke assembly with the axle, moving them down from the steering column.
13. Remove the separator with the balls of the lower bearing of the steering column.
14. Using a drift of a suitable size, we press out the lower bearing race from the steering column.
15. We inspect the lower bearing race and, if it is necessary to replace it, press it off the axle by prying it off with a thin slotted screwdriver.
Steering column details: 1 - nut of the upper traverse: 2 - washer; 3 - upper traverse; 4 - axle locknut; 5 - lock washer of the nut; 6 - nut of the upper bearing; 7 - upper bearing ring; 8 - separator of the upper bearing; 9 - separator of the lower bearing; 10 - lower traverse assembly with the axis of the steering column; 11 - lower bearing ring (shown mounted on axle)
Check steering column bearings. If damaged, replace them.
Installation
We assemble the steering column in the reverse order, having previously applied a thin layer of grease to the axle and bearings of the steering column.
We press the clips of new bearings into the steering column with light hammer blows through a tool head of a suitable diameter.
Using a radius wrench, tighten the upper bearing nut to a torque of 25 Nm, and the steering column nut to a torque of 105 Nm.
After tightening the upper bearing nut, check that the fork rotates smoothly from lock to lock. If the fork turns with jamming or with force, adjust the tightening of the upper bearing nut.
It is recommended to additionally check and adjust the tightening of the steering column nuts after 300-500 km of the motorcycle.
