Throttle control (Harley Street 750)

Prepare



1. Remove main fuse. See Power disconnect.

2. Remove headlamp fairing. See Headlamp fairing.

Remove



Right Hand Grip



1. See Figure 3-55. Remove right hand grip.
  • a. Slide rubber boot (8) off control cable adjusters (9) and jamnuts (10).
  • b. Loosen jamnuts.
  • c. Turn adjusters to shorten cable housings.
  • d. Remove long screws (6).
  • e. Remove upper (3) and lower (5) switch housings.
  • f. See Figure 3-56. Remove ferrules and cables from right hand grip.
  • g. See Figure 3-55. Slide right hand grip (1) off handlebar (2).

Throttle Cables



1. Remove fuel tank. See Fuel tank.

2. See Figure 3-55. Remove switch housings.
  • a. Slide rubber boot (8) off control cable adjusters (9) and jamnuts (10).
  • b. Loosen jamnuts.
  • c. Turn adjusters to shorten cable housings.
  • d. Remove long screws (6).
  • e. See Figure 3-56. Remove ferrules and cables from right hand grip.
  • f. See Figure 3-55. Remove upper (3) and lower (5) switch housings.

3. See Figure 3-55. Disconnect cables.

4. Remove cables.
  • a. See Figure 3-55. Remove short screw (12) and cable retaining plate (13).
  • b. Remove idle (11) and throttle (7) cable from lower switch housing.
  • c. See Figure 3-56. Open harness caddy (1).
  • d. Cut and discard cable straps (2).
  • e. Remove cables (3, 4) from caddy.
  • f. See Figure 3-57. Remove ferrules and cables (1,2) from throttle cam (3).

Throttle Cables



1. See Figure 3-55. Install cables.


  • a. Route throttle (3) and idle (4) cables through harness caddy (1).
  • b. Install new cable straps (2).
  • c. Close caddy.

2. See Figure 3-57. Connect throttle cables.
  • a. Install cables (1-2) and ferrules in throttle cam (3).
  • b. See Figure 3-55. Install idle (11) and throttle (7) cable in lower switch housing (5).
  • c. Install cable retaining plate (13) and short screw (12). Tighten to 0.9-1.1 Nm (8-9 in·lbs).
  • d. See Figure 3-56. Install ferrules and inner cables in right hand grip.
  • e. See Figure 3-55. Install and align upper switch housing (3) with alignment hole (4) on handlebar.
  • f. Install lower switch housing (5).
  • g. Install long screws (6). Tighten to 0.9-1.1 Nm (8-9 in·lbs).

3. Install fuel tank. See Fuel tank.

4. Adjust cables. See Check and adjust throttle cables

Right Hand Grip



1. See Figure 3-55. Install right hand grip.
  • a. Slide right hand grip (1) onto handlebar (2).
  • b. See Figure 3-56. Install ferrules and cables.
  • c. Install and align upper switch housing (3) with alignment hole (4) on handlebar.
  • d. Install lower switch housing (5).
  • e. Install long screws (6). Tighten to 0.9-1.1 Nm (8-9 in·lbs).

2. Adjust cables. See Check and adjust throttle cables.
