General
Inspect and lubricate the following items according to Maintenance schedule.
If service is on muddy or dusty roads, clean and lubricate at shorter intervals.
Luвrication points
See Figure 2-6 for general locations of lubrication points.
Cables and Levers
1. Throttle cables: Pour two drops of HARLEY® LUBE into each cable housing. See Throttle control.
2. Clutch cable: Pour two drops of HARLEY® LUBE into clutch cable housing. See Clutch control.
3. Clutch hand lever: Use HARLEY® LUBE on clutch lever pivot pin hole. See Clutch control.
4. Gear Shift Lever: Use SPECIAL PURPOSE GREASE on gear shift lever pivot pin hole. See Rider foot controls.
5. Front brake hand lever: Use G40M BRAKE GREASE on front brake lever pivot pin hole and end of piston that contacts brake lever. See Front brake master cylinder.
6. Rear brake lever: Use G40M BRAKE GREASE on rear brake lever pivot pin hole and end of pushrod that contacts the master cylinder. See Rear brake master cylinder and Rider foot controls.
Jiffy Stand
7. Jiffy Stand: Lubricate cam stop pin with SPECIAL PURPOSE GREASE. See Jiffy stand.
Steering Head Bearings
8. Steering Head Bearings: Lubricate steering head bearings with SPECIAL PURPOSE GREASE. See Adjust steering head bearings.
Brake Caliper Pins and Bushings
9. Brake Caliper Pins and Bushings: Lubricate brake caliper pins and bushings with DOW CORNING MOLY 44 BRAKE PIN GREASE. See Front brake caliper and Rear brake caliper.
Fuel Cap Lock
10. Fuel Cap Lock: Lubricate fuel cap lock with HARLEY® LUBE.
