Prepare



1. Remove main fuse. See Power disconnect.

2. Remove exhaust system. See Exhaust system.

Remove

Lower



1. See Figure 4-5. Remove lower front engine mount.
  • a. Support engine (8) using FAT JACK (Part # HD-45968) or equivalent.
  • b. Remove short screws (2).
  • c. Remove right side foot control assembly (3).
  • d. Remove the pushrod (4) from the rear brake master cylinder (5).
  • e. Set aside right side foot control assembly.
  • f. Remove long screw (7).
  • g. Remove lower front engine mount (1).

Upper



1. Disconnect horn connectors. See Removing and installing horn.

2. See Figure 4-6. Remove upper front engine mount.
  • a. Support engine (5) using FAT JACK (Part # HD-45968) or equivalent.
  • b. Remove short screws (3).
  • c. Set aside horn bracket assembly (6).
  • d. Remove long screw (4).
  • e. Remove upper front engine mount (2).

Inspect



1. Check engine mounts.
  • a. Check that all engine mount bolts and screws are tight.
  • b. Check for cracks or damage. Verify that the mounts are supporting the weight of the engine. Replace as necessary.

Install



FASTENERTORQUE VALUE
Lower front engine mount to frame screw22.0-29.0 Nm17-21 ft·lbs
Lower front engine mount to engine screw42.7-47.3 Nm32-34 ft·lbs
Upper front engine mount screw, to frame42.7-47.3 Nm32-34 ft·lbs
Upper front engine mount screw, to engine42.7-47.3 Nm32-34 ft·lbs

Lower



1. See Figure 4-5. Install lower front engine mount.
  • a. Align lower front engine mount (1) between engine (8) and frame (6).
  • b. Loosely install long screw (7).
  • c. Install pushrod (4) to rear brake master cylinder (5).
  • d. Insert short screws (2) though right side foot control assembly.
  • e. Loosely install screws and right side foot control assembly to frame.
  • f. Tighten short screws to 22.0-29.0 Nm (17-21 ft·lbs).
  • g. Tighten long screw to 42.7-47.3 Nm (32-34 ft·lbs).

Upper



1. See Figure 4-6. Install upper front engine mount.
  • a. Align upper front engine mount (2) to engine (5) and frame (1).
  • b. Loosely install long screw (4).
  • c. Insert two short screws (3) though horn bracket assembly (6).
  • d. Loosely install short screws and horn bracket assembly to frame.
  • e. Loosely install remaining short screws.
  • f. Tighten short screws to 42.7-47.3 Nm (32-34 ft·lbs).
  • g. Tighten long screw to 42.7-47.3 Nm (32-34 ft·lbs).

2. Connect horn connectors. See Removing and installing horn


Complete



1. Install exhaust system. See Exhaust system.

2. Install main fuse. See Power disconnect.
