Prepare
1. Remove front belt guard. See Belt guards.
2. Disconnect negative battery cable. See Power disconnect.
3. Disconnect stator and CKP connectors from regulator. See Voltage regulator.
Remove
1. See Figure 4-30. Remove alternator cover.
- a. Remove screws (3).
- b. Remove alternator cover (2).
2. Discard gasket (1).
Install

1. See Figure 4-30. Install new gasket (1).
2. Install alternator cover.
- a. Install alternator cover (2).
- b. Figure 4-31. Install screws. Tighten in order shown to 10.0-12.0 Nm (89-106 in·lbs).

Disassemble
Note: Crankshaft position sensor (CKP) and stator are serviced as an assembly.
1. See Figure 4-32. Remove access cover.
- a. Remove screws (9).
- b. Remove access cover (8).
- c. Discard O-ring (7).
2. Remove stator.
- a. Pull rubber boot (4) from alternator cover.
- b. Remove crankshaft position sensor screws (2).
- c. Remove stator screws (1).
- d. Remove stator (5).
Assemble

1. See Figure 4-32. Install stator.
- a. Install stator (5).
- b. Install stator screws (1). Tighten to 10.0-12.0 Nm (89-106 in·lbs).
- c. Install crankshaft position sensor screws (2). Tighten to 10.0-12.0 Nm (89-106 in·lbs).
- d. Attach rubber boot (4) to alternator cover.
2. Install access cover.
- a. Install new O-ring (7).
- b. Install access cover (8).
- c. Install access cover screws (9). Tighten to 10.0-12.0 Nm (89-106 in·lbs).
